U.S. HUD Main Street Grants Provide Affordable Housing
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has announced the FY 2022 round of funding in the Main Street Grant Program. Townships with a population of 50,000 or less and 100 or fewer public housing units are eligible to apply. The deadline for proposals is January 31, 2023.
The Main Street program seeks to rejuvenate older, downtown business districts while retaining the area’s traditional and historic character. Eligible projects include building new affordable housing or reconfiguring obsolete or surplus commercial space into affordable housing units.
This round of funding will support two awards of approximately up to $500,000. Applicants must provide at minimum 5% cash or in-kind services match. Questions about this opportunity can be directed to Susan A. Wilson at (202) 402-4500 or by email at Susan.Wilson@hud.gov.
