WalkWorks Active Transportation Plan Grants Available 

The state Department of Health (DOH) and Pennsylvania Downtown Center announced a funding opportunity under the WalkWorks Initiative. Funds will be available to assist with plan development to identify and prioritize active transportation projects with an emphasis on walking, biking, wheelchair use, and public transit. The active transportation plan may be part of a comprehensive plan as required by the Municipalities Planning Code or a stand-alone document.  

Townships may apply using the form provided in the funding opportunity announcement by May 26. Priority will be given to communities located in DOH’s State Physical Activity and Nutrition grant priority counties or the Department of Environmental Protection’s Environmental Justice Areas.
